A Loss For Words

“I’m at a loss for words” she says staring into his soul.

“I’m sorry” he said,

“Will I ever have you back in my arms?” She asks.

“I’ll always love you, forever and always” he said.

“Why have you done this?” She questioned.

“I’ll never truly leave you but this isn’t working out.” He said.

“You’ll be my first and last love” she says as tears begin to roll off of her cheek.

“It’s not you it’s me.” He said.

“No!” She screamed to the sky. “Why would you do this to me!”

“You were my first and last love. Nothing can take that away from us. Not even this.” he said as the ink began to fade. “You will have to let me go and move on. I am a free spirit and you have to find a way to spend your time back here. I’ll be watching over you.”

The ink faded into the white paper beneath it, just like an image in a mind will fade to words over time.

She fell into the policeman’s arms crying tears into his uniform.

“I’m sorry for your loss.” The policeman says in a low voice.

She clears up her tears and brings herself together. She just stares into the note and quietly says “I’m at a loss for words.”

Unbecoming

Stumbling through dark,
covered in ashes,
Left to die in a cold world,
As time slowly passes.

Everyone died
Leaving you behind,

Voices echo in the distance,
Your pain is reminiscence

Eerie voices from your past
Echo through the streets,
Waiting for your breath to pass,
In you they don’t believe

They live in a world so unkind,
Watching you fall down,
They can no longer confine,
You give in, a gun draws out.

No intent to stop their voices,
No intent to make more choices,

The gun returns to the temple,
Creating a downpour so torrential
Memories meet the messenger,
And your mind doesn’t register.

A vacant void awaits your arrival,
Such an infinite life needs no more survival
